Harborough Climate Action's first open meeting, "Ways Out of The Climate Crisis", held on April 11th was a great success.
60 people came along to listen to the talk given by Professor Heiko Balzter, Director of the Institute for Environmental Futures at Leicester University. His slides set out really starkly the problems the world is facing, and how big the gap is between the targets that world leaders have signed up to, and actual policies that will deliver them.
His insights into the work that he and his colleagues are involved in, in this country and around the world, were fascinating, and gave us some hope that science and technology can help us develop pathways to Net Zero.
His talk led to some lively discussion, which carried on as the attendees took refreshment, and browsed the displays giving information about the activities and campaigns that Harborough Climate Action gets involved in.
