Market Harborough - an Active Travel Revolution?

Writer's picture: SHCSHC

This was the title of the latest HCA Open meeting, held on January 15th, presented by Bob Bellm, who is a member of Harborough Transport Action, and also leading the work of the Transport groups within the Neighborhood Forums. He gave an overview of what has, and has not, happened in Market Harborough in the recent past to enable more of us to make a move towards more Active Travel : despite several strategies being developed by Leicestershire County Council (LCC), very little has actually been delivered.

He then talked about projects that are underway now, being led by local community groups, but supported by LCC and Harborough District Council and other national bodies. These include : the Active Travel Revolution project underway with all MH Primary Schools; Working with LCC and bus companies to revise bus routes in MH; developing a MH Green Wheel; and more!

There really is lots going on, and lots that local people can help in delivering. The more volunteers that get involved in these projects, the quicker they can be delivered.
