Interesting report from Possible, addressing the issue of greenhouse gases relating to flying. The key findings are :
to reach the government’s carbon reduction plans, as a country we need to reduce flying by a third by 2030
77% of us in the UK won’t have to change our travel choices; (we already take one return flight a year or less).
Those who fly more often would need to cut back by one return flight each year, and to not exceed four return flights a year.
In order to encourage frequent flyers to achieve this last bullet point, Possible are proposing the introduction of a Frequent Flyer Levy - if you fly more, you pay more.
